Diane Arbus
Diane Arbus is recognized for her unsettling photographic portrayals of people on the outskirts of society. She was one of the early photographers to successfully move from the technical aspect of photography, at then time when critics and curators did not consider photography to be an art form. She started putting a portfolio together in 1969 to attempt to make some financial freedom and to sustain her artistic identity. The portfolio, A box of ten pictures, is on display in the Smithsonian English Art Museum until Jan 2019. The museum is the only scene fof this portfolio, one of only four full versions that Arbus published and annotated.
